William "Will" Cairns (born 29 June 2009) is an English motorcycle speedway rider.

Biography

Cairns, born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, came to prominence in 2024 after winning the British 500cc Youth Championship.[1] He then won the bronze medal at the 2024 Speedway Youth World Championship in Gorzów Wielkopolski.[2] He also finished fourth in the NORA British 500cc Championship in August 2024.[3] He trained in California under four-time world champion Greg Hancock.[2]

In December 2024 he signed an 18-month deal with Poole Pirates; under the rules he could not ride in the Championship until his 16th birthday on 29 June 2025. At the time he already had an agreement with Polish club Zielona Góra to ride in the U24 Ekstraliga.[2][4] With Poole he won the Championship and Knockout Cup double in 2025 and the BSN Series in 2026.[1]

After making an appearance in the Premiership in 2025,[5] Cairns secured a rising star berth with the Belle Vue Aces in the 2026 SGB Premiership.[6]

In 2026, aged 16, he qualified for the 2026 SGP2 (World Under-21 Championship).[7] Riding with the number 145, he scored 22 points (8 in Målilla, 11 in Łódź and 3 in Vojens) and finished 11th.[8]
